Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present.

Everyday we are born again. What we do today matters most.
Avenue Therapies are passionate about supporting people to access the therapy they need. Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, daunting and confusing. We’re here to make that journey as easy as possible.
Everybody goes through periods in their life where things feel difficult, or bad things happen. Sometimes we get through these just fine, but there are times when it feels like too much of a struggle and we need a little extra help. Whether it is low mood, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, struggling to cope or feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions, therapy can offer an avenue for understanding these difficulties and work towards change in the direction of what is important to you.
Avenue Therapies are passionate about evidence based, effective therapeutic models such as CBT, ACT, CAT, EMDR and DBT. We recognise that everyone has areas of their lives that they find more difficult as well as areas of great strength and resilience. In keeping with this stance we are also influenced by the theoretical orientations of Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Positive Psychology and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) approaches.
I went to Avenue therapies to get some help with my PTSD, I am overwhelmed by how quick and relatively painless it was. My therapist made me feel at ease and reassured me during sessions, without her I would still be taking antidepressants. Since I completed my EMDR sessions I view the world in a totally different light, I keep noticing things that I used to ignore such as the smell of flowers, the sound of birdsong in the morning even the feel of rain. Thank you
You (therapist) have helped me learn to live with a head that was my enemy for my whole life....I have achieved the impossible; beginning to love and cherish my messy but happy head, imperfections and all.
I felt really in a crisis; this was the first time that I had sought psychiatric help. He quickly established a rapport that both supported but also challenged not only how I felt, but also my perception of who I was. This at times was very difficult and at times upsetting; however he has the innate skill to know when to push and when to pull. This enabled us to make great progress; using a variety of techniques which always felt unique to my particular circumstances. The guidance that my therapist provided, along with the skills that he has taught me has transformed my life.
I felt very comfortable talking to my therapist about how I was feeling. This was because she was very approachable, friendly and very ‘human’, I never felt judged or patronised. Her interest in my well-being was very genuine.... She explained theories and techniques in a very accessible way and helped me to understand myself and my reactions to situations which in turn reduced the impact of these feelings for me.
From the very beginning, my therapist helped me feel extremely at ease and took me step by step through each stage of therapy with huge amounts of encouragement and insight. My anxieties about beginning therapy were eased through his amazing ability to create an environment in which I could feel relaxed and open to speak about my difficulties. The tools that I have acquired from these sessions have had an indescribably positive impact on all areas of my life and my experience of therapy has truly been life changing.
My partner has finished his 14 sessions and it's fair to say our lives and relationship are 100% better. He is almost a different person, free of crippling anxiety and we are both so much happier.
My therapist was the calm during some quite scary storms for me over the last couple of years. During our sessions she equipped me with the skills and tools to live the life I want without being held back by my anxiety.
I had a very positive experience at Avenue Therapies, they are very welcoming and accommodating, which helped me build a good relationship with my therapist and feel in a safe environment to open up about my situation.
