Dr Megan Bowes
Experience
I work with young people and adults living with the challenges of mental health and/or physical health problems. I work with people to tailor therapy to their individual needs and draw on a number of different evidence-based models including CBT, EMDR and ACT. I work clinically with mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression as well as specialising in the treatment of traumatic memories or phobias using EMDR.
Outside of private practice, I am a Senior Health Psychologist working across Chronic Pain, Long Covid and Rheumatology services in the NHS. I am also the Psychological Lead of a specialist school where I help young people with anxiety, depression, stress and trauma which I really enjoy. I also like working with young people in my private practice and can work with a range of presenting difficulties that young people of 14 years and above can face.
Values
I aim to provide a safe and compassionate space where you can understand and explore your difficulties, and together we can work towards unhooking from thoughts and behaviours that are holding you back. I adapt my sessions to suit each individual and to meet your unique needs.
Models worked with
The main models I work with include EMDR which I have found to be incredibly effective for traumatic memories, phobias and grief related difficulties, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, CBT and Compassion focused therapy. I use a combination of approaches to suit each individual’s specific goals.
Clinic information
I offer therapy sessions online after 6pm on weekday evenings.
