My Experience

Hello, my name is Louisa and I am a Clinical Psychologist offering individual psychological therapy. I currently work as a clinical psychologist in private practice and in the NHS and am experienced working with a range of difficulties that might have led to diagnoses such as anxiety, depression,  PTSD and Complex-PTSD, dissociation, phobias and OCD. I am also experienced in working with people struggling with stress, burnout and difficulties with confidence.  At other times people may have sought therapy to try and make sense of an experience that has led them to feel stuck or overwhelmed. This might be a bereavement, relational difficulty or other difficult life experiences, or a difficult pattern they’ve noticed in their life that they would like to change.

I am particularly passionate about working with people with are experiencing difficulties in the present that are related to past experiences or trauma.  As well as having experience offering therapy for these types of difficulties, I have also worked delivering training in trauma informed care for other professionals working in health and social care services and bring a trauma-informed approach to my way of working.

My Values

Being human can be tough and I believe that therapy can be useful for navigating through periods of feeling stuck or overwhelmed, overcoming difficult past events and helping with difficult thoughts and feelings. I have a warm and compassionate style through which I aim to create a safe, containing and supportive space in which you can make sense of your experiences and think about how you can move forwards.

The models I work with

I have trained in a range of psychological approaches and offer therapies that are based on best practice guidelines and the research evidence base. I also work flexibly so that therapy can be tailored to your personal preferences in order for us to find an approach that fits with you.  The main approaches that I use are Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

I currently hold a clinic in Guildford, Surrey with appointments on a Monday daytime and some evening availability. Please contact Avenue Therapies for my current availability. I work with people from aged 16 years and upwards.
