Georgia Meisel
My experience
I have worked in the NHS as an assistant since 2017. During this time, I have supported people across the lifespan with a range of difficulties, including low mood, anxiety, eating disorders, low self-esteem and neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
What is a Trainee Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychology training is a 3-year post-graduate doctorate programme, involving clinical placements, research training, academic teaching and multiple assessments. In order to get accepted onto the training programme, there is a requirement to have a wide range of experience of working with people across the lifespan and of conducting research related to clinical psychology.
During my clinical placement with Avenue Therapies, I will be working with clients with a range of difficulties, under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologist. Being in training, I am up to date with most recent research related to my clients’ difficulties and the latest evidence based practice, as well as being regularly assessed to ensure I am delivering care to the highest standard.
I work with clients with a range of presentations, including different anxiety presentations and low mood/depression, suitable for my level of training. I offer sessions at a discounted rate. Please get in touch if you wish to seek more information about working with a Trainee Clinical Psychologist.
My Values
I believe it is incredibly important to provide a safe space where a client does not feel judged, and can feel heard and understood. I highly value working collaboratively, being side-by-side with my client to work through difficulties together, and delivering person-centred care by putting a client’s goals and needs at the forefront of their care. I aim to use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognise and draw upon their strengths when working to overcome their difficulties.
The Models I Work With
I work collaboratively with clients to tailor their sessions to meet their values, needs and goals. Together, we will build a shared understanding of difficulties and use this to guide our work on overcoming these struggles. I tend to use a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach with clients, as well as drawing on other models throughout.
