Dr Matilda Buckley
Hi there. I’m a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I have over 15 years experience across the NHS and private sectors and practice various therapeutic models. I would describe my approach as integrative, which means I would tailor my work with you based on your individual needs. I aim to offer a non-judgemental, safe space where you feel validated and heard. We’ll work
together through a trusting relationship to help you to address the challenges in your life.
Please reach out to me if you are suffering from the effects of:
• any experience of trauma
• anxiety, stress or panic attacks
• depression and sadness
• low-self-esteem or lack of self-confidence
• family and relationship issues
• identity issues
• challenges linked to life events (such as loss or bereavement)
• lacking a sense of meaning or direction in life
• if you have been diagnosed with a personality disorder
• if you are simply seeking to work on personal development and growth
I believe that individuals are inherently capable of personal growth, even when faced with the most demanding challenges in life. While adversity can be life-altering and incredibly destabilising, the choice to face such challenges can also bring about renewed purpose, meaning and wisdom and approaching them via a therapeutic relationship can be hugely beneficial. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
The Models that I work with
My overall approach is rooted in Existential therapy, which aims to help you to make choices that enable you to live more authentically. Together we’ll explore your lived experience and make sense of the paradoxes, conflicts and dilemmas you may be facing.
During the course of our work together, and in collaboration with you, we may also draw on other tools from technique-based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness based therapies such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy skills work (DBT) and compassion focused therapy (CFT).
The duration of our work together will be determined by you, your needs and preferences.
