Dr Kayleigh McMillan
My Experience
With over a decade of experience in the NHS, I’ve supported children, young people, and adults facing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, emotional regulation, self-harm, and trauma. My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and CFT, and I incorporate mindfulness techniques to support overall well-being. I’m committed to providing compassionate, effective care that leads to lasting positive change.
My Values
My work is guided by compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based care. I strive to create a warm, empathetic environment where young people and families feel understood and supported. By working closely with each client and using proven therapeutic methods, I aim to help people build resilience and develop the skills they need. I value flexibility and adaptability, ensuring that our work evolves to meet each person’s unique needs.
The Models I Work With
I use several evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). I also incorporate mindfulness into my practice. Together, we’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges you or your child are facing, using formulation to integrate thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences. Formulation is an ongoing, collaborative process that keeps the therapy responsive and effective.
Clinic Information
I offer in-person appointments on Sundays from 10am to 4pm. If you prefer, virtual sessions are also available on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm.
Who I Work With
I work with people of all ages, including children, young people, and parents. When working with children and young people, I take a systemic approach, considering the whole family’s role in our sessions. For children under 10, I focus on a parent-led approach, which involves working directly with parents or caregivers to provide guidance and strategies for supporting their child’s growth and development.
