My Experience

I use a variety of psychological approaches to help people live more meaningful lives and move towards the goals which are important to them. I seek to take into account an understanding of their wider situation and adapt my approach according to their own needs and abilities.

I have worked within the NHS since 2014, prior to this I was working for private and charitable healthcare services. My experience has included working with people with mental health difficulties, chronic pain, learning disabilities, medically unexplained symptoms as well as with people adjusting to life after a brain injury, a stroke and physical health problems.

I am currently working in the NHS with adults over 65 who have mental health problems and cognitive difficulties, including memory problems. I am also working in the NHS with adults who have a learning disability and mental health problems or challenging behaviour. I work with families, partners, carers and individuals, depending on what is appropriate for the individual.

My Values

I believe in providing people with a calm and safe space, allowing them to take the time to explore their current and historical experiences. It is through this, I hope to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties and an appreciation for the direction they would like their life to move in. I believe by building on their existing strengths we can work towards a future where they feel more able to cope with difficult experiences and can make steps towards living a richer and more meaningful life.

The Models I Work With

I use a variety of psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help people live more fulfilled lives and move towards the goals which are important to them. I seek to take into account an understanding of their wider situation and adapt my approach according to their own needs, abilities and wishes.
