Dr Gareth Drake
My Experience
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, professionally registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have worked with patients across the lifespan in a range of NHS, research and private sector settings.
My Values
I am particularly interested in finding a shared way of talking about distress with people who come for therapy, so that they might better understand their situation, thereby gaining some relief and hopefully a greater sense of meaning in their day-to-day lives.
The Models I Work With
I draw on a range of evidence-based therapy approaches in the work. These include Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion-focussed therapy (CFT), Mindfulness practice, and Mentalisation-based therapy (MBT).
Training and Qualifications
I attend regular CPD events, supervisor workshops, specialist therapy skills events, clinical seminars, and reflective practice groups, as part of the ongoing maintenance of standards of practice set by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
