Clinical Psychologist

Surrey Clinic

My Experience

I am experienced in carrying out psychological assessment and treatment for a range of mental health problems across the lifespan. As well as providing therapeutic interventions for individuals (that is children, adolescents and adults), I have extensive experience in working with families and groups. I have worked closely to support individuals experiencing numerous types of emotional distress, including low mood, anxiety disorders (including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Panic Disorder), phobias, behavioural difficulties, psychosomatic disorders, psychosis and a range of emotional regulation difficulties, possibly resulting from but not restricted to psychological trauma. I have worked in a range of settings, including social care settings (with Children Looked After), private sector (inpatient and outpatient settings), and NHS inpatient (forensic), and community care services. Within the NHS, I currently work with Looked After Children. I also provide training and consultation to staff working in highly pressured environments.

My Values

I am passionate about providing clients with a safe and containing therapeutic relationship. I am inspired to work both creatively and collaboratively with my clients to reveal what factors might be driving the problems in question. I value being invited in to share and support clients on their personal therapeutic journey, to bear witness to and promote self-soothing.

The Models I Work With

I am an integrative psychologist who enjoys working closely with client, using a Compassion Focussed Therapy Model to thoroughly assess the therapeutic needs of my client. A psychological formulation of the current presenting difficulties is then used to guide the process of therapeutic intervention. I work collaboratively with clients using Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Approaches, Mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am able to adapt these models to suit the therapeutic needs of my clients. I am experienced in providing both short term and long term therapy, working with individuals, families and groups.
