Cognitive Behaviour Therapist

Southampton Clinic

My Experience

I am qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). Having been working in the National Health Service for many years, I have gained valuable experience of working with people with a wide range of mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, Psychosis/Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder, Bi-polar Disorder. I have also used CBT to help people with issues with anger management, self-esteem and self-confidence and problem solving.

My Values

I value uniqueness and diversity and also believe in the equality and empowerment of the individual. Given that each person’s story is unique and different I understand the need to be open minded and non-judgemental. I have good listening ears and I treat all my clients with respect. I work closely with clients to unearth and explore their strengths and capabilities as a way of helping them manage their challenges. The aim is to promote recovery and improve functioning through distress reduction.

The Models I Work With

I primarily use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) but sometimes blend in elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassionate Focus Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness.
