Counselling Psychologist

West London Clinic

My Experience

Since 2008 I have provided psychological therapy in a variety of settings. The majority of my work has been for the NHS in and around London. This has included working in Primary Care Services and also Secondary Care Services with individuals who have more complex needs and histories of trauma. I have experience of working for a number of charitable organisations including Only Connect, Mind, Samaritans, beat, Place2be and Brighton Oasis Project.

My Values

I am most concerned with developing a secure therapeutic relationship and view this as a necessary foundation from which, personal growth and change can begin to occur. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship has a closer link to therapeutic movement than the type of approach chosen. I am committed to exploring each individual’s unique experience and in meeting with them as a fellow human being, rather than a patient. I avoid labelling people in ways that are unhelpful and I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach.

The Models I Work With

My approach is very relational and mainly informed by psychodynamic theory and research. You can bring anything that is causing you distress, confusion or difficulty. Some people are not sure why they come to me. They just feel things are not okay. Others bring a feeling to explore like feeling stuck, empty, numb or dead. Sometimes individuals wish to explore themselves more generally. There is no right or wrong topic to bring and nothing that I would not consider important enough. Therapy can help to create energy and shifts that did not previously feel present or possible.
