Groups and workshops can be a great way to learn new skills and be amongst people who have similar difficulties. Listening to other people’s experiences of using the skills themselves, how to apply them, when and what other things they find useful (or not) can not only increase our knowledge, but help us feel less isolated and alone in our difficulties.
We currently offer the following groups and workshops:
Mindfulness has many health benefits from reducing stress, anxiety, depression and negative thoughts to helping us focus our attention and have richer, more meaningful lives. We run day workshops on teaching foundation mindfulness techniques and explore how to apply these in everyday life using a variety of mindfulness practices.
“Coping with Intense and Difficult Emotions” Group
It is a skills based, 12 session group for people who find emotions overwhelming and difficult to manage. Do you ever feel as though you are more sensitive than others? Struggle to manage your emotions, that it seems as though they are all over the place? That your emotions tend to cause problems in other areas of your life such as at work or in relationships? If so, then this group will help!
This group is based on a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approach that has been evidenced to support individuals experiencing difficulties related to mood disorders, emotion dysregulation and to provide alternatives to destructive ways of coping with these.
The group will help you to understand emotions, learn skills to cope in a crisis, how to manage emotions on a day to day basis and keep them more on an ‘even keel’ and how to communicate more effectively to others.
“Living With” Group
This is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which aims to support you to live a richer and fuller life with chronic and enduring mental health and physical health difficulties such as recurrent depression/anxiety disorders, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue.
For more information on either of these groups, or to enquire about the next available course, please contact one of the team and we will be happy to help.
